Shafaqna English– According to the latest update from the CDC issued on Tuesday(18 Aug 2026), the total number of laboratory-confirmed cyclosporiasis infections across the United States has reached 15,716.
This marks a substantial weekly increase of 1,821 additional cases compared to the previous Tuesday’s tally, indicating that the outbreak is continuing to expand at a notable pace, likely driven by contaminated produce or ongoing environmental exposure.
The CDC further disclosed that the 15,716 confirmed infections have been reported from 47 states across the country, with the outbreak’s clinical impact including 828 hospital admissions and two fatalities recorded as of August 17.
Additionally, the agency noted that at least 11,841 other suspected or probable cases of cyclosporiasis are still under review, requiring comprehensive laboratory testing and epidemiological assessment before they can be officially added to the confirmed count.
