Shafaqna English– On Thursday(20 Aug 2026), semiconductor manufacturer SK Hynix announced that it has reached a preliminary wage agreement with its South Korean workforce. Under the proposed terms, employees will receive a minimum of 60% of their 2026 bonuses in company shares, marking a departure from the fully cash‑based bonuses paid out in the previous year.
The artificial intelligence boom has significantly boosted SK Hynix’s profits, resulting in exceptionally large bonuses for staff. According to Reuters’ calculations, workers are projected to receive an average payout of 779 million won ($547,000) for the 2026 fiscal year.
