Shafaqna English– In a fresh wave of funding aimed at revitalizing domestic mineral production, the US Energy Department is providing $500 million in grants to seven companies working on lithium, cobalt, and other mineral and battery projects within the country, as confirmed by a document reviewed by Reuters, continuing a strategic pattern of investments to shore up American mining and processing operations.
This financial support comes only a few weeks after President Donald Trump articulated a vision to transform the United States into the world’s leading mineral power and to reduce its dependency on China, currently the dominant force in global mineral markets; the administration has employed a combination of loans, grants, direct government investments, and other policy mechanisms to stimulate fresh mining and processing ventures, all the while striving to establish a more resilient domestic supply chain for minerals deemed critical to both economic prosperity and national defense.
