Shafaqna English– In a Friday(21 Aug 2026) announcement, China’s official state-run news agency, Xinhua, disclosed that the combined death toll from the devastating Typhoon Maysak and the severe flooding it triggered in the southwestern province of Guangxi during the early part of July has now climbed to a minimum of 159 confirmed fatalities.
Beyond the confirmed deaths, the same report adds a worrying dimension: approximately 10 individuals remain officially unaccounted for, a figure that underscores the ongoing uncertainty and suggests that the eventual death toll may still rise as search-and-rescue teams continue combing through debris and flooded zones.
