Shafaqna English- Pima County data reveals the highest number of migrant fatalities in two years, amid criticism of US policies.
According to recent data from Pima County’s medical examiner’s office, 19 migrants, including children, were found along the Arizona-Mexico border last month.
This number represents the highest monthly death toll in that region since 2024 and raises the annual total to 73 remains, 14 more than the same period last year.
Experts and advocates link these figures to US domestic and foreign policies, such as recent restrictions on asylum seekers. Despite extreme heat and threats of arrest by ICE, many still undertake the dangerous journey through Mexico.
