Shafaqna English– Xiaomi, a leading Chinese smartphone maker, took the wraps off its latest in-house mobile chip, the Xring, on Monday(24 Aug 2026). The move reflects the company’s strategy to gain tighter control over critical hardware components, thereby bolstering its supply chain resilience and cutting down its reliance on outside semiconductor suppliers.
The launch of the Xring O3 follows exactly one year after Xiaomi introduced its debut proprietary application processor, the Xring O1. This release signifies the most recent milestone in the Chinese firm’s ambition to compete with industry heavyweights such as Apple, Samsung Electronics, and Huawei by developing its own silicon solutions, as it currently ranks as the third-largest smartphone seller globally.
