Shafaqna English– In a decisive response on Tuesday(25 Aug 2026), Canada imposed retaliatory tariffs targeting approximately $20 billion in annual U.S. imports, while simultaneously unveiling financial assistance packages for domestic businesses and workers affected by the escalating trade dispute—effectively matching the latest U.S. duties on a dollar-for-dollar basis.
The Canadian government confirmed that its retaliatory duties on U.S. goods will take force beginning September 8, with tariff rates ranging from 15% to 50% applied to roughly 700 different product categories originating from south of the border.
