BOJ to assess weak yen’s effect on inflation

Shafaqna English– In a speech delivered on Thursday, Ryozo Himino, the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Japan, emphasized the critical importance of implementing interest rate increases in a timely manner, with particular attention directed toward the escalating risks posed by rising inflationary pressures, a stance that served to solidify the already widespread market consensus that borrowing costs are likely to rise in the near future.

However, the Deputy Governor stopped short of providing any clear indications regarding the specific timing of the subsequent rate increase, confining his guidance to a statement that “detailed and thorough discussions” concerning price dynamics ought to take place during every upcoming policy meeting of the central bank.
