Shafaqna English– As the annual gathering of central bankers from Europe and the United States comes to a close, insiders report that the European delegation is departing with little confidence in the durability of traditional frameworks for global financial collaboration.
Instead, there is a prevailing sense of anxiety that the bilateral relationship—which has already shown signs of friction—is likely to face further deterioration, potentially disrupting economic policy coordination between the two regions.
In an effort to alleviate the anxiety expressed by European officials, Federal Reserve policymakers made extraordinary efforts during the meetings this week to offer reassurances.
They explicitly pledged to uphold all of their existing international obligations, hoping to calm fears that the United States might deviate from its previously agreed-upon commitments in global financial governance.
