Shafaqna English- A top official from India’s automobile sector revealed on Thursday(6 Aug 2026) that uncertainty among consumers about the country’s transition to E20 petrol is prompting some buyers to switch their preference to vehicles powered by alternative fuels such as CNG, electricity, or hybrid systems.
The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) reported that in July, the combined sales of alternative-fuel passenger vehicles—comprising CNG, hybrid, and electric models—approached the sales volume of petrol vehicles so closely that the gap was described as being within “striking distance.”
