Shafaqna English- Liverpool, the English Premier League outfit, officially confirmed on Monday(10 Aug 2026) that they have agreed a season-long loan deal with Spanish champions Barcelona for the transfer of Uruguay international defender Ronald Araujo.
The Anfield club’s decision to bring in the 27-year-old centre-half comes as a direct response to the mounting injury crisis that has plagued their defensive unit throughout the current campaign, leaving manager Arne Slot with limited options at the back and necessitating urgent reinforcements before the transfer window closed.
As confirmed by various British news sources, the loan deal struck between the two European heavyweights features an embedded purchase option valued at roughly £47 million ($63.48 million), granting Liverpool the right to convert Araujo’s temporary stay into a permanent transfer at the end of the 2025-26 season.
The inclusion of such a clause underscores the Reds’ serious interest in securing the Uruguayan’s services beyond the current campaign, should he prove his worth during his loan spell at Anfield.
