Shafaqna English– Due to an unprecedented drop in the Danube’s water levels, the wrecks of German warships dating back to World War II have resurfaced in eastern Serbia. The receding waters have not only revealed sandbanks that were formerly hidden beneath the surface but have also caused many vessels to become stranded along the river.
The rusted hulls of these vessels, which had remained submerged for nearly eighty years since 1945, have now emerged above the waterline. Meanwhile, further upstream in the city of Novi Sad, many small boats that were moored at local marinas are still trapped and unable to move due to the unusually low water levels.
