Shafaqna English– Fire service leaders reported on Friday(14 Aug 2026) that the number of wildfires in England and Wales has broken previous records. They cautioned that rescue personnel are finding it increasingly difficult to manage the growing dangers, particularly following a devastating incident the previous day when fast-moving fires, fueled by bone-dry fields, advanced rapidly and destroyed homes during the year’s peak temperature.
While Britain has so far avoided the extensive devastation seen in Spain, France, and other parts of Europe this year, the nation is currently in the grips of its fifth heatwave, and with this summer projected to be the hottest ever recorded, it is now dealing with more fire outbreaks than ever before.
