This decision comes in direct response to the unprecedented dry spell that made July the driest month ever documented in both England and Wales since meteorological records began.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Burnham elaborated on the government’s commitment, stating: “We are allocating an additional £65 million today to help farmers endure the current drought while simultaneously building resilience for future summer seasons.
