Shafaqna English- Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Croatia, and Greece due to severe wildfires that have ravaged villages and forests.
These fires have occurred following a series of heatwaves this year, which have scorched around 500,000 hectares (1.24 million acres) of land across the European Union.
In Croatia, strong winds drove a wildfire into parts of the tourist town of Omis on Friday, enveloping settlements and forests and damaging buildings and cars. Local media reported that 14 people were hospitalised in the nearby city of Split, with seven in life-threatening condition. In total, some 2,000 people were evacuated from villages near Croatia’s coast.
