Shafaqna English– Following social media messages that have encouraged migrants to try another mass border crossing into Ceuta on Saturday(15 Aug 2026), Spain has bolstered its security forces in the North African exclave. This development occurs just fourteen days after a massive rush of tens of thousands of migrants entered the city.
Security measures were visibly heightened on Friday(14 Aug 2026) evening, with soldiers in battle dress stationed near supermarkets and administrative buildings, and police vehicles patrolling the enclave’s main roads.
Yet, despite the increased military and police presence, the city’s outdoor dining areas remained crowded, and the central district experienced a sense of calm that was markedly different from the anxiety that gripped the area following the tragic border rush on July 30.
