Plant diseases threaten Canadian crops

Shafaqna English– The first rainy year of this decade in Canada has led to a widespread outbreak of plant diseases across fields of durum, spring wheat, canola, and pulses. Farmers of these crops are now facing a tough and expensive battle.

With the arrival of summer, a sudden wave of plant diseases created a serious risk for Canada’s crop yields and quality. As the world’s largest exporter of canola, durum wheat, dry peas, and oats, and a leader in high-protein spring wheat exports, the country faced a significant threat to its export standing.
