Shafaqna English– China’s robot competitions are increasingly being compared with the Olympics, although the results are far less evenly distributed, with Chinese teams taking most of the medals. Over the past ten years, these contests have reflected the rapid rise of the robotics sector while underscoring its significance as a strategic industry promoted by President Xi Jinping.
What began as a niche activity organized by university teams and robotics enthusiasts has evolved into a nationally promoted showcase of China’s technological capabilities. State media now gives the competitions considerable attention, while companies are increasingly using them as testing grounds for commercial robots designed to demonstrate practical applications beyond entertainment and spectacle.
Beijing on Saturday hosted the opening of the five-day World Humanoid Robot Games, marking the latest and most ambitious stage in the evolution of China’s robot competitions.
