Shafaqna English- The Salam Organization for Democracy and Human Rights has condemned the documented reports and testimonies of assaults, sectarian insults, threats, and coercion to sign interrogation records against several detained Bahraini Shia scholars. The organization is calling for an immediate and independent investigation into these allegations.
In a statement, the organization announced that several Bahraini Shia religious scholars arrested by government forces in various parts of the country have been subjected to physical and verbal assaults, behavior involving sectarian humiliation, and coercion to sign interrogation minutes, which constitute a clear violation of international and domestic human rights standards and contradict the recent Public Prosecution statement about legal guarantees for defendants and their enjoyment of full rights.
