SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Sistani answered a question about very light makeup for women.
Question: Some women use very light makeup on their faces with this logic that it is light and does not provoke, and if it is Haram, it is only slightly Haram, because they are like any other human being and would like to feel that their appearances look presentable to others, and nothing more. We pray that God grants you success in your good deeds, and request a fatherly advice from you in order that God grant us and them good by this advice.
The Grand Ayatollah Sistani: The presence of a woman in front of a non-Mahram man with the slightest of the makeup is absolutely Haram. And whatever has been mentioned (in the question) gives no excuse to commit this Haram. And it is Wajib for the believing woman to observe all religious rules.
