UK: Nearly 22 million people in Afghanistan need humanitarian aid

Shafaqna English- The United Kingdom has announced that the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan remains dire, with nearly 22 million people expected to need humanitarian assistance in 2026.

Hamish Falconer, the United Kingdom’s Deputy Foreign Secretary, said in a statement on Thursday, July 16, 2026, that nearly five years after the Taliban’s takeover, the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan persists and is at risk of worsening further.
