Shafaqna English- In a late-Saturday(8 Aug 2026)statement, the authorities managing Mount Bromo National Park in East Java ordered the closure of the park to all visitors, as a wildfire that had been raging since Monday continued to grow and reached the caldera floor—the park’s central volcanic feature—raising safety concerns.
Mount Bromo, an active volcano celebrated for its sandy caldera landscape and a favorite among tourists, has seen approximately 176 hectares (434.91 acres) consumed by the ongoing wildfire. The blaze has grown alarmingly from roughly 60 hectares on Thursday, underscoring the rapid intensification of the fire over just a few days.
