Shafaqna English– Tunisia witnessed a large-scale demonstration against the policies of President Kais Saied.
According to Shafaqna’s translation service, quoting Al-Mayadeen, thousands of Tunisians took to the streets of the capital on Saturday (22 Nov 2025) in a major protest march, condemning what they described as increasing “injustice and tyranny.” They accused President of consolidating one-man rule by using the judiciary and security forces against his opponents.
This march is the latest in a series of popular movements Tunisia has seen in recent weeks, involving journalists, young doctors, and workers from the transportation and banking sectors.
Kais Saied is accused of using the judiciary and police to suppress dissent. Protesters also condemned the economic and environmental crises, as well as the shrinking of freedoms.
Demonstrators, many dressed in black, gathered in a symbolic act reflecting what they describe as “falling into a large open-air prison.” Civil society organizations and political parties from across the political spectrum participated in the protest. Protesters chanted slogans such as: “We are suffocating,” “enough tyranny” and “people want downfall of regime”.
