Oil prices rise after US-Iran peace talks called off

Shafaqna English– Friday(19 Jun 2026) saw oil prices move higher, driven by growing uncertainty over a lasting US-Iran truce after the collapse of Swiss peace talks and as Israel intensified its military strikes on Lebanon.

As of 0645 GMT, Brent crude was up 51 cents, or 0.64%, at $80.36 per barrel, and WTI crude had gained $1.28, or 1.7%, to $77.88 per barrel, with the front-month July expiry due on Monday. Both contracts were heading for a weekly loss of around 8%.
