Shafaqna English- In an act that seemingly contradicted FIFA rules, Argentine players held up a banner asserting sovereignty over the Falkland Islands after defeating England in the World Cup semi-final on Wednesday(15 Jul 2026).
FIFA has explicitly stated in its Code of Conduct that no banners, flags, flyers, clothing, or other paraphernalia carrying political, offensive, or discriminatory content will be permitted inside stadiums.
